HVAC Thermostat Replacement
Problem
On December 10th at 9:10 AM, NMC Mechanical received an emergency service call from H&R Block. The store manager, Maria, reported that the HVAC units were repeatedly shutting off. Although the thermostat was set to 75°F, the indoor temperature would not rise above 70°F and often dropped lower, creating an uncomfortable environment for staff and customers.
Challenge
After arriving on-site at 10:35 AM and checking in with store management, the technician conducted troubleshooting and discovered multiple issues. Two thermostats were damaged and required replacement. In addition, the thermostat wiring was improperly installed, causing incorrect communication with the HVAC units. The system also required rewiring and reprogramming to restore proper heating functionality. Due to the scope of work, client approval was required before proceeding.
Solution
A detailed quote was prepared and submitted to the client. Approval was received on Monday, December 22nd, at approximately 11:00 AM. Once approved, the technician sourced the required thermostats and materials. Terry returned to the site at 4:00 PM the same day, replaced both damaged thermostats, corrected the wiring, and reprogrammed the HVAC system to manufacturer specifications.
Results:
All HVAC units operated correctly after repairs were completed at approximately 7:30 PM. Heating performance was fully restored, and the space reached and maintained the desired temperature. Store manager Maria confirmed that the system was functioning properly and expressed satisfaction with the completed work.
