Rear Exit Door Closer Replacement
Problem
Store management reported that the rear exit door was not closing properly, creating a safety and security concern. The door remained partially open at times and slammed intermittently, increasing the risk of unauthorized access and potential injury.
Challenge
The issue involved a failed door closer, a critical safety component for an emergency exit. The door needed to be secured while the store remained operational. The repair required precise adjustment to ensure proper closing speed, latching, and compliance with safety standards
Solution
The service request was acknowledged immediately and assigned to Tyson, Lead Maintenance Technician. Upon arrival, Tyson inspected the existing door closer assembly and determined that the unit had suffered internal hydraulic failure, rendering it non-functional.
Actions taken:
- Temporarily secured the door to maintain safety during repair
- Removed the defective door closer
- Installed a new commercial-grade door closer
- Secured mounting hardware
- Adjusted arm alignment
- Calibrated closing and latching speeds for proper operation
- Final testing was performed to confirm smooth closing, secure latching, and safe operation without slamming.
Results:
By 12:18 AM, the rear exit door was fully operational, closing smoothly and latching securely. All safety and operational checks were successfully completed. Client sign-off was obtained at 12:25 AM, no return visit was required, and the store remained open throughout the repair.Client sign-off was obtained at 5:35 PM.
