Problem
On November 8, 2025 at 2:06 PM, NMC Mechanical received a locksmith service request from Aéropostale Group for their store located at 8401 Van Nuys Blvd, Units 36/38, Panorama, CA 91402. Store management reported that the door lock was inoperable and required drilling, with a temporary locking solution and four keys needed so the store could be secured overnight. The client also requested that any removed lock core be left with the store team.
Challenge
Upon inspection, the technician found that a key had broken off inside the door knob, rendering the lock unusable. The internal lock components were damaged beyond repair, and the door handle was loose, creating both a security risk and operational concern. The challenge was to restore secure locking functionality quickly while ensuring proper door alignment and safe operation.
Solution
Technician Michael arrived on-site at 7:05 PM and performed a full inspection of the door hardware. The damaged door knob was removed. The broken key was extracted from the lock assembly. The existing key cylinder was replaced with a new, compatible cylinder. A temporary locking solution was installed and four new keys were provided to store management. The door handle was secured, adjusted, and realigned to ensure proper function. All mounting hardware was tightened and inspected. The door was tested for smooth operation, proper locking, and overall security. The removed lock core was left with the store team as requested.
Results:
The store’s entry door was fully restored to proper working and secure condition. The locking mechanism functioned correctly, and the door operated smoothly without obstruction. The service was completed at 9:03 PM, with client sign-off obtained from Patty. The store was able to secure the location overnight, and no return visit was required.
