Emergency Exit Alarm Replacement

Problem

On September 30, 2025, NMC Mechanical received an emergency service request from TJ MAXX #1201 regarding the back emergency exit door at 3815 Metro Drive, Suite 800, Metro Crossing, Council Bluffs, IA 51501. Store management reported that the door was non-functional and unable to lock from the outside, creating an immediate security concern.

Challenge

The challenge was to quickly restore secure locking and alarm functionality on a critical emergency exit door. The existing Detex V40 Series exit alarm was non-operational and required replacement. The repair needed to be completed promptly, ensuring compliance with safety and security standards while minimizing disruption to store operations.

Solution

Technician Adamo was assigned to the emergency service and arrived on-site at 9:37 AM, checking in with store management before starting work. A full inspection confirmed that the Detex V40 Series exit alarm was non-functional. A new Detex unit (or equivalent exit alarm lock) was supplied and installed. All locking and alarm mechanisms were properly aligned and reconnected. The door and alarm system were thoroughly tested to verify secure latching and proper alarm activation. The work area was cleaned upon completion.

Results:

The back emergency exit door was fully restored to a safe, secure, and operational condition. The service was completed at 11:40 AM, with client sign-off obtained at 11:45 AM. Security and life-safety compliance were reestablished, and no return visit was required.
