Register Electrical Wiring Repair
Problem
NMC Mechanical was dispatched to Journeys – Location #080835 at 2020 S Expy 83, F04A, Harlingen, TX 78552 for an electrical issue involving damaged wiring feeding a register. The condition posed a potential safety hazard due to compromised wire insulation.
Challenge
The primary challenge was to safely identify and correct the source of the wiring damage while preventing future insulation failure. The repair required working within a 1½-inch conduit, ensuring proper electrical protection, code compliance, and restoring reliable power to the register without introducing new risks.
Solution
Technician Eduardo arrived on-site at 1:24 PM and immediately shut down the electrical circuit to ensure a safe work environment. The damaged wiring was removed from the conduit and traced back to its source. Sharp conduit edges were identified as the cause of insulation damage. A protective conduit bushing was installed to prevent future abrasion. New 12/2 solid copper MC Lite cable was routed through the conduit. A PET black cable sleeve was added for extra insulation and durability. Wiring was secured with proper mounting hardware. A 4-inch square metal electrical outlet box cover was installed to protect all connections. All wiring was reconnected and thoroughly tested for shorts, grounding, and insulation integrity. Power was restored and the register was tested for proper operation. The work area was cleaned, and all labor and materials were documented.
Results:
The electrical system was safely repaired and fully restored to proper working condition. The damaged wiring issue was permanently corrected, and the risk of future insulation failure was eliminated. The service was completed at 3:27 PM, leaving the site clean, compliant, and operational. No return visit was required.
