Emergency Sewage Backup Repair
Problem
Store management reported a severe sewage backup in which black sewage had surfaced from floor drains and flowed onto the sales floor. Flushing the toilets caused sewage to escape from under restroom doors and enter store aisles. The situation resulted in no functioning restrooms and required immediate response to address both sanitation and operational concerns.
Challenge
The sewage backup posed an urgent health and safety risk in an active retail environment. The issue appeared to have temporarily subsided upon arrival, making diagnosis more complex. Preventive action was required to ensure the problem would not reoccur after service completion.
Solution
Upon arrival, the technician met with store management to identify the affected areas and review the incident timeline. Although active backup was no longer present, the technician performed a preventive inspection and cleaning of the main sewer line.
Actions taken:
- Ran a drain snake through the main line to clear any potential obstructions
- Verified proper drainage flow throughout the system
- Confirmed that no further sewage backup was present
Results:
Following service, the plumbing system was confirmed to be operating normally with no additional sewage discharge. The emergency condition was fully resolved, and preventative measures reduced the risk of recurrence. The job was completed the same evening, client sign-off was obtained, and no return visit was required
