Fixing a Main Door Lock
Problem
Store management reported that the main entrance door handle was loose and not engaging properly, creating a security risk and an accessibility concern for customers and staff. The door could not reliably latch, leaving the entrance vulnerable.
Challenge
The internal handle mechanism and mounting hardware were worn and stripped, preventing simple tightening or adjustment. The entrance door needed to remain safe and operational while the store stayed open. A durable, commercial-grade solution was required to prevent repeat failures.
Solution
The technician inspected the door handle and latch assembly and confirmed the need for full replacement.
Actions taken:
- Secured the door during the repair to maintain safety
- Removed the defective handle and latch assembly
- Installed a new commercial-grade door handle and latch set
- Replaced and tightened all mounting hardware
- Adjusted latch alignment for smooth operation
- Tested opening, closing, and locking functions
- Before, during, and after photos were captured to document the repair.
Results:
By 8:31 PM, the main entrance door was fully restored, operating smoothly with proper latch engagement and secure locking. Final safety and functionality checks were completed, client sign-off was obtained at 8:40 PM, and no return visit was required. The store remained open throughout the repair with no disruption to operations.
